About article:

In this paper a brief overview of genesis and contemporary understanding of notion ''sustainable" in connection with notions like "development", "live/living", "future", "society", etc. is given in the international as well as national context. The second part of the study is offered to the explanation of relationships between sustainability concept and geographical approaches. The third part deals with actual and potential future developmental trends of Slovakia in the light of geographically relevant sustainability indicators.
