About article:
The article presents an overview of the evolution and contemporary state of remote sensing application for soil erosion research. Through the analysis of accessible literature methods of visual and digital interpretation of aerospace data are evaluated within the broader context of soil survey and landscape research. The principal trends and approaches in the identification, assessment and mapping of soils affected by erosion/deposition processes are summarised. The role of remote .sensing in soil erosion modelling is also discussed. The advantages and limits of the considered data and methods are evaluated. The future development is seen in integration of remote sensing with other types of data and methodical approaches. Geographical information systems provide elective tools for such kind of task.
