About article:
The aim of the presented contribution is to provide the basic review of the principal demographic processes in the Slovak Republic in the years 1989-1994 and some factors influencing their development. Economic and social transformation going on in the Slovak Republic is manifested also by the change of numerous indices of the population development. The contribution analyses the development and effects upon the most important population development indices like birth rate, mortality, marriage and divorce rates as well as the health status of the population.
