About article:
This paper contains the economic and geographical view on space, concentration, specialization and diversification in relation to economic growth. The economic approach deals with the sources and causes of agglomeration economies. However, the questions of cultural and social diversity and proximity are purely geographical. Whilst the process of concentration and specialization is predominantly concerned with the new trade theory and the new economic geography, the process of diversification is related to evolutionary economic geography and the institutional approach to economic geography. We try to explore and discuss some contradictions and common features in the study of economies of agglomeration in terms of specialization and diversification.
