Human Affairs: Postdisciplinary Humanities & Social Sciences Quarterly (founded in 1990 as Human Affairs) is an international journal for humanities and social sciences published in English by the Slovak Academy of Sciences, Slovakia. It aims to bring together contributions from all traditional and non-traditional fields of humanities and social sciences, which relate to crucial contemporary human affairs. The underlying editorial strategy is to advance human self-understanding and communication via publishing innovative theoretical, interpretative, critical, and historical contributions transcending traditional disciplinary and cultural frontiers. By publishing primarily, though not exclusively, original and theoretical articles, empirical studies, and their interpretations, reviews, and notes of domestic authors, Human Affairs: Postdisciplinary Humanities & Social Sciences Quarterly serves the mission of fostering multicultural and international conversation concerning the whole range of human and social issues. Articles published in Human Affairs are indexed/abstracted in The Philosopher’s Index, Sociological Abstracts, Linguistics & Language Behavior Abstracts, Worldwide Political Science Abstracts, The Central European Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Publication ethics and publication malpractice statement
Human Affairs: Postdisciplinary Humanities & Social Sciences Quarterly is strongly against plagiarism and strives to promote publication ethics by establishing specific publication ethics guidelines for the authors as well as for the editors to follow.

Human Affairs: Postdisciplinary Humanities & Social Sciences Quarterly accepts only original articles which have not been published and are not in press or under consideration for publication by another publisher at the time of submission. When submitting a manuscript, the author(s) will be asked to include a Transfer copyright agreement. In the agreement, the author(s) declare also that “the article is original, written by stated author/s, has not been published before, contains no unlawful statements, does not infringe the rights of others, and that any necessary written permissions to quote from other sources have been obtained by the author/s.” When working with a new submission, the first thing the editors check is the originality of the article, using different database searches to have a look at other articles by the same authors and related published articles. In case of problems, our editors work with the Publishing Ethics Resource Kit developed by Elsevier.
