Description:

The satellite data became the inseparable part of the GIS database compilation and thematic cartography. The databases are at 1:100 000 scale.

Resources:
The Institute of Geography published the monograph Land Cover of Slovakia in 2001. This monograph offers a closer look at the databases offered.

Inovation:

The first database contains thirty-one types land use classes of Slovakia. The smallest mapped area is 25 ha. The second database contains the following types of changes which took place in the territory of Slovakia in the 1970‘s and 1990‘s: intensification of agriculture, extensification of agriculture, urbanization (industrialization), enlargement of the mineral mining, deforestation, afforestation and other types of changes.

Landscape planning, nature conservation, forestry, agriculture, thematic cartography.

Cooperation:

Provision of consultations and expertise concerning the application of the databases under a contract. The databases are administered by the Slovenská agentúra životného prostredia in Banská Bystrica, which also provides additional technical information on the possibilities of their use.
