O článku:
This paper describes the development of an autonomous musical composition system using CLEAN, a functional language based on Lambda Calculus, [D. Cope: Experiments Musical in Intelligence (EMI/) Non-Linear Linguistic-Based Composition Interface 18 (1989), 117–139] and the most popular mathematical tools to analyse signals: the Fast Fourier Transform, Artificial Neural Network, Autoregressive Model and Adaptive Filter (LMS based-procedure algorithms). The system should be capable to create unpublished music with the potential to express feelings similar to those expressed by a model music. It will be possible by frequency identification of musical notes recorded in WAVE format files, and further translation to Standard MIDI Files (S.M.F.). The system analyses the generated MIDI file and identifies its musical harmony. A textual score containing this information is generated. In order to compose new musical scores, the system extracts statistical histograms of notes, rhythm and harmony from these textual scores. The histograms contain the necessary information to generate new melodies for either soloist or polyphonic instruments. The paper also shows that it is possible to design such systems without using the traditional rules or requiring a deep theoretical musical knowledge. Moreover, there is no need of users intervention or continuous backtracking during the development of new melodies.
