O článku:
Informal childcare provided by grandparents is perceived as a form of intergenerational solidarity. Instead of examining the views of grandparents in this respect, this study adopted a less common approach by focusing on the views of the middle generation, i.e. the parents of dependent children. The qualitative methodology approach was applied so as to determine answers to the question of what support or limit the help of grandparents concerning caring for their grandchildren. The phenomenological research consisted of the conducting of semi-structured interviews with 50 parents from 39 two-parent families in the Czech Republic. Internal norms and values were found to be more important than external factors in terms of influencing the choice of grandparents to provide childcare. The extent of care for grandchildren was found to be supported by good interpersonal relations within the family, the pro-family orientation of the grandparents and their having a positive approach to caring for their grandchildren, the confidence of parents in the caring abilities of their or their partners´ parents, and the willingness to ask them for help.
