O článku:
The processing of the relatively extensive archival fund in the collections of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAS) Archive as the legacy of the Slovak ethnologist Adam Pranda aims to produce an unprecedented personal study of this figure of modern Slovak ethnology and cultural heritage protection. The aim of this study, or rather the analysis of source materials, is also a direct response to the anniversaries of Adam Pranda’s birth (100 years) and death (40 years). The named native of the Kysuce region, as a qualified linguist, started working at the Scientific Institutes of the City of Bratislava (1948–1952), then at the Center for folk art production (1953–1961) and from 1961 until his untimely death in 1984 he worked at the Ethnographic Institute of the SAS. As a researcher and leading scientific researcher at the institute, he professionally focused on research into crafts and additional occupations of the population, folk art and he co-formed and dealt with the issue of cultural regionalization of Slovakia. He also participated in teaching (at the former Department of Ethnography and Folklore Studies of the Faculty of Arts of the Comenius University of Bratislava) and actively cooperated with regional institutions, as well as with institutions of national importance – the Slovak National Museum in Martin and the Osveta Publishing House, also in Martin. He had a wide network of informants across almost the entire territory of Slovakia. As the then chairman of the Slovak Ethnographic Society, he took the initiative in establishing the periodical Národopisné informácie (now Etnologické rozpravy). He created entries for encyclopedic works and lexicons, and he also participated in research tasks for the processing of the Ethnographic Atlas of Slovakia. He was a well-founded and reliable author, lecturer, but also a respected opponent and sought-after reviewer.
