O článku:
The presented study focuses on somatic phraseology, i.e. phraseological units that contain parts of the human body in publicistic texts of Slovak media discourse. The study aims to indicate the extent to which somatisms participate in phraseological units and to elucidate their distribution along the centre-periphery axis. The theoretical basis is rooted in Cognitive linguistics, Ethnolinguistics and Stylistics. Relevant concepts include the principle of anthropocentrism, the prototype theory, experiential realism, conceptual metaphor, and the linguistic image of the world. Selected texts from two journals, Hlavné správy and SME, are analyzed via two separate corpora. The identified somatic phraseological units are assorted based on the rate of occurrence – the criteria being the frequency of somatic components and productivity of somatisms in the formation of phraseological units. The paper also addresses building the expressiveness of publicistic text using somatic phraseology.
