Na základe skúmania osudov, ktoré mali preklady diel Alessandra Manzoniho (Snúbenci), Giacoma Leopardiho a Dante Alighieriho (Peklo) v slovenskej kultúre, možno zhrnúť niekoľko spoločných vlastností, ktoré boli výzvou na ďalšie a opakované preklady. Prvým z nich je prítomnosť estetického ideálu v dielach týchto autorov, keďže ide o diela umeleckej literatúry. Bol natoľko živý, že mal čo povedať každej generácii. Ďalším faktorom, spoločným pre diela klasikov, je prítomnosť etického plánu, ktorým sú vo všetkých troch spomínaných prípadoch kresťanské hodnoty. Opakovaním prekladov sa postupne vytvorila literárna tradícia, ktorá formuje generácie.
Interview conducted between Italian literary critic and translater Marina Ruffinazzi-Leue and the author of the book Dagmar Sabolová-Princic The critic Marina Ruffinazzi-Leue is discussing with the writer Dagmar Sabolová-Princic about the fortunes of three Italian authors Dante Alighieri, Alessandro Manzoni and Giacomo Leopardi in Slovakia and the repeated translations of their works into the Slovak language. The aim of the author of the book was to discover and describe the common specifics of these three authors that could be explained by the permanent interest in the Slovak culture in create an ever new translation. The common identified elements are the ethical level, in our cas Christian ethic level which is connected with aetshetic values. In the 20th century the literature translated in Slovakia was typically "paying the cultural debts" to the classical European heritage". Between these debts were many works from Italian literature, for example in Slovak we have three translations of Dante´s Hell into Slovak, that were made between 1965 and 1978, during the laps of roughly a single decade: translated by Karol Strmeň (Cleveland 1965), by Andrej Žarnov and Mikuláš Pažitka (Canada 1978), by Viliam Turčány and Jozef Felix (Bratislava 1964). The former two represent a particular phenomenon in the history of Slovak artistic translation, which we shall call "exile translation". There are five translations in all of the Catholic Romantic novel Promessi Sposi (The Engaged Couple) of Alessandro Manzoni, which began in 19th century in the concluding with the last translation in 1971. The first translation was done by the priest Michal Ucsnay (Serafina or parable of the Loyality and pure vVirginity) from the years 1857-58, that is a Slovak adaptation. The second translation of Michal Lauko (translated from the Hungarian language) is from 1865, that we can call "The secondhand translation".
