The space dedicated to the opera production in the programme offer of the radio
broadcasting is the subject maer of analysis of the famous opera critic and theorist
M. Blahynka. He is dealing with the position of opera production in the radio broadcasting
„Radio-journal“ aer its origination (1923, in Slovakia in 1926), and in the
course of the first decennium. The first live opera transmission in the Czechoslovak
radio broadcasting was Smetana´s opera Dve vdovy (Two Widows). The transmission
was made from the Prague National Theatre on 12-th February 1925. The first
opera transmied by Bratislava was Verdi´s Traviata. The transmission from the Slovak
National Theatre was performed on the second day of the regular radio broadcasting
in Bratislava on 2-nd October 1926. Live opera trasmissions occured in the radio
broadcasting 50 or 60 times a year. In June 1927 the live transmission from the theatre
in Košice took place. It was the operea Orfeus v podsvetí (Orpheus in Underworld).
The author is drawing aention to the most significant live transmissions of performances
of the National Theatre in Prague, Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava, next
is suggesting nation-wide broadcastings of the Slovak National Theatre opera under
conduction of O. Nedbal in Prague, also a unique transmission of performance Predaná

The second part of the study in which is Štefan Oľha returning to activities and artistic results of existence of the Small Theatre Studio in Košice, one of the most progressive experimental troupes in 70-ies of 20-th century. A trinity of professional theatrical artists (dramaturgist Štefan Oľha, director Jozef Pražmári and scenographer Štefan Hudák) in cooperation with young theatrical artists, predominantly secondary school students, prepared a series of non conform staging projects inspired by stimuli of Russian, Czech and Slovak avantgarde theatre. The aim of creators was to address particularly young generation of spectators, and that is why they had resigned to a classic theatre space and a petrified system of theatrical signs. They were intending to produce a total theatre, reaching out by an acute idea, working with heuristic and
provoking formal resources.
