O článku:
In his article the author reflects on the present situation of Russian studies in Slovakia afflicted partly by the late 80s – early 90s social changes and their impact on the overall social and academic climate as well as on the conditions for scientific work in our country, and partly affected also by approaching the end of a specific stage of research by completing large research projects, followed by disintegration of teams of authors. This happened in the period when the objective language situation (rapid changes in the developments of both Russian and Slovak languages) calls for an intense and concentrated research of the vocabularies of the two above mentioned languages and for developing new or reviewing and amending the existing basic research work done in this area – big bilingual, general and special terminology dictionaries – using the existing professional resource potential. Vocabulary research is a permanent task that does not know any breaks. The author expresses his hope that the present situation is only an incidental short term intermezzo, a breath after the completion of a stage, and not the finish of the whole race – not the annihilation of the Slovak Russian studies in the Slovak Academy of Sciences.
