Poverové predstavy Slovákov na vybraných územiach Rumunska, Maďarska a Srbska v diachrónnej perspektíve

This work is concerned with the superstitious ideas of Slovaks in regions of Romania, Hungary and Serbia. I have based it basically on the records of fieldwork contained in the Database of Superstitious and Magical Ideas in Slovakia, created by the Faculty of Comparative Religionistics of FP CU (Philosophical Faculty, Comenius University) in Bratislava on the basis of fieldwork conducted in 1998 - 2011. The superstitious ideas of Slovaks abroad are compared with ideas in those areas of Slovakia from which the given population migrated. The aim of this work is to show what kind of shift occurred in the superstitious ideas of this population and to determine some of the factors which may have influenced those changes. These are, above all, factors deriving from the new geographical environment, the influence of the majority religion, and the position of the minority in their new milieu.
