The process of decentralization and dispersion in industry of the 60ties and 70ties led to a new spatial division of labour. It is based in differentiated location of the controlling and controlled components of the industrial companies, Position of the individual districts of former East Slovakian region in a new spatial division of labour was empirically investigated on the basis of organizational status of the industrial plants, resulting in a spatial differentiation of their characteristics (employment structure, wages), Higher proportion of workers in internally controlled plants is characteristic for the economically more advanced area units. For the less developed and depression regions higher proportion of workers in externally controlled industrial plants is typical.
