About article:

In this text we introduce the description of phonological system of standard Macedonian from typologial point of view from broader context with southern-slavonic languages (Bulgarian, Serbian and Croatian), but also with languages of Balcan language union (Greek, Turkish, Albanian and Aromanian language). Without this broader comparative procedure it would not be possible to explain many special features in the sound system of standard Macedonian, in which development tendencies were overlapped, conditioned by border position of the language as well as by numerous interlanguage contacts with Slavonic and nonslavonic languages.
