Nonparametric regression methods are often used to estimate an unknown function $(x1,…, xp)$ in a regression model

for random variables $X1,…, Xp, Y$ and error $ε$. An additive model may be used for the function $m$ in the special form$$ m(x1,…, xp)=m1(x1)+… mp(xp) . $$
