Stručná anotácia
Alzheimer's disease is currently the most common neurodegenerative disorder, characterized by distinct cognitive and sensory deficits. How the molecular and morphological changes associated with Alzheimer's disease affect information processing in neuronal circuits and translate into cognitive dysfunction is unclear. The successful candidate will determine the impact of neurodegeneration on activity of well-defined classes of cortical interneurons and their neuronal circuits. Using a combination of electrophysiological, optical, molecular, and optogenetic tools in-vivo she/he will also determine the changing roles of cortical interneurons and their microcircuits in mediating cognitive processes during neurodegeneration. Potential results will uncover principles of functional organization of neuronal circuits in healthy and diseased brains. Such organization would relate directly the detailed structure of cortical circuits to perception and behaviour in brain disorders.
