Juraj Zajonc received the degree of CSc. at the Institute of Ethnology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava after defending his PhD thesis. He is a senior research fellow at the Institute of Ethnology and Social Anthropology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, v. v. i. in Bratislava. He studies ethnological aspects of traditional material culture with a focus on handmade textiles, holidays in postmodern society and cultural heritage issues. He leads and participates in national projects. He collaborates with experts in the fields of archaeology, art history, textile restoration and museology in Slovakia and abroad. He has published dozens of scientific papers in Slovakia and abroad and two scientific monographs in Slovakia on the above-mentioned research areas.
