Mgr., Mgr. Art. Barbara Hodásová, PhD.

Mgr. Mgr. Art. Barbara Balážová, PhD. is research fellow at the Institute of Art History of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava. She graduated in art history from the Comenius University in Bratislava in 1999 and in fine arts (painting) from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava in 2002. She obtained a PhD. in art history at the Institute of Art History of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in 2003. Her main research interest is the Baroque art of the seventeenth and eighteenth century in Slovakia, especially different methodological points of view on culture in Central Slovakian mining towns [Pictorissa Cremniciensis. Bratislava 2004; together with Janka Kolláriková editor of Zbierka umenia 15. – 18. storočia Národnej banky Slovenska – Múzeum mincí a medailí Kremnica. Kremnica 2006; Franz Anton Maulbertsch in der Slowakei und seine Altarbilder für die Franziskaner in Kremnica. She also participated in different individual and collective research projects [especially APVT-51-017504 Electronic Encyclopaedia of the Visual Art in Slovakia www.arslexicon.sk; www.arslexicon.com]. She got some academic scholarship abroad, especially Fulbright Awards for Research and Lecturing in the U.S. for 6-months research stay at University of California Los Angeles in 2007.
