Mgr. Andrea Zat'ková, PhD. (54 years old - in 2025) - independent researcher with rich research experience both at home and at renowned foreign institutions (e.g. Unidad de Patologia Molecular, Fundacion Jiménez Diaz, Madrid, Spain; Laboratory of Medical Biology of Vienna Medical University). Her research focuses on the molecular genetics of inherited diseases. She is the creator and curator of the international online database of HGD gene variants (http://hgddatabase.cvtisr.sk/), which summarizes sequence variants in patients with alkaptonuria. Under her leadership, the Laboratory of Genetics of the BMC SAS participated in the FP7 DevelopAKUre project - Clinical Development of Nitisinone for Alkaptonuria (FP7-HEALTH-2012-INNOVATION-1 Grant 304985) and several nationally funded projects. She is co-author of one monograph, and the SCOPUS database records 51 of her scientific publications with 1213 citations and an h-index of 20.
