From September 1, 2020, Slovak Academy of Sciences became member of the national network of EURAXESS Slovakia centers

EURAXESS Slovakia, centers for researchers and research organizations, is part of the European network of EURAXESS centers in 40 countries. The centers were established in 2004 at the initiative of the European Commission.

In Slovakia, the national network of EURAXESS centers represents five SAIA offices, in Bratislava, Nitra, Žilina, Banská Bystrica and Košice (euraxess@saia.sk). From  September 1, 2020 joined centres Slovak Academy of Sciences with its internal Euraxess team (euraxess_point@savba.sk). Creator of internal Euraxess SAV team´s idea was prof. Mgr. Ľubica Lacinová, DrSc., Member of the SAS Presidium for the Scientific Section 2 - Life, Chemical, Medical, and Environmental Sciences. The Slovak Academic Information Agency (SAIA, n.o.) was also big supporter in creating the team, because SAIA was place, where the trainings of SAS staff took place. Bilateral cooperation and above-standard relations continue to this day.

The Euraxess team SAS works for the Department of Science and Research. The head of the department is Mrs. Zuzana Hrabovská. It is based at the SAS Office at 48 Štefánikova Street in Bratislava.

EURAXESS Slovakia, centres for researchers and research organisations are helping overcome obstacles and support smooth operation of the mobility programmes designated for researchers; they provide information and services to international and Slovak researchers and their families on various aspects of mobility, including practical information (on issues of social security, taxes, visa and residence permits, or study opportunities for family members) related to the stay in another country. 

Vital communication tools in the work of the centres include the European portal EURAXESS – Researchers in Motion (https://euraxess.ec.europa.eu) and national EURAXESS portals; through portals researchers may search also for job opportunities and research institutions may announce openings for researchers free of charge.

EURAXESS Slovakia is part of the European EURAXESS Network, more than 200 centres operating in 40 countries; the network was created by the initiative of the European Commission in 2004.

SAIA, n. o. (Slovak Academic Information Agency) in Bratislava is the coordinator of the EURAXESS Slovakia project on national level.

SAIA manages the Slovak national EURAXESS portal www.euraxess.sk in both Slovak and English versions.
