Grounded Approaches to Multi-Species Future of Nature Based Governance
Dr. Elif Tugba Simsek from SlovakGlobe and CETIP network attended the 16th Conference of the European Society for Ecological Economics (ESEE) in Ghent, Belgium. Renowned Event brought together over 500 ecological economists in Ghent.
Elif Tugba Simsek presented her study, "Grounded Approaches to Multi-Species Futures of Nature-Based Governance," drawing on examples from the COEVOLVERS project. The research explores how Nature-Based Solutions (NBS), despite being promoted as pathways for socioecological transformation, remain largely anthropocentric. Using a grounded theory approach, it analyses empirical data from the seven COEVOLVERS Living Labs across eight European countries to develop concepts and methods for multispecies involvement in knowledge co-creation. The study contributes to debates on non-anthropocentric NBS and multispecies governance for more sustainable and equitable futures.
