New Slovak Ambassador to Egypt Is Jozef Hudec from the Institute of Oriental Studies of the SAS
The new ambassador of the Slovak Republic to the Arab Republic of Egypt is the distinguished Slovak Egyptologist, researcher at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, and diplomat, Dr Jozef Hudec. In this important role, he will also represent Slovakia's interests with accreditation to the Republic of the Sudan, the State of Libya, the Sultanate of Oman, and the Republic of Chad.
Jozef Hudec brings to this key diplomatic position not only extensive diplomatic experience but also a strong academic background. As a long-standing researcher at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the SAS, he has established himself as a leading expert in Egyptology and archaeology, specialising in the Middle East and North Africa. His appointment represents a unique combination of outstanding Slovak science and high-level diplomacy, creating excellent conditions for strengthening relations in this strategically important region.
Jozef Hudec has served in the Slovak diplomatic service for more than two decades. During his career, he has held several significant positions, including serving as the non-resident Head of the Slovak Liaison Office in Ramallah and as Deputy Ambassador at the Slovak embassies in Tel Aviv and Cairo, where he now returns as ambassador.
The new ambassador's key priorities in Cairo will include further strengthening bilateral political dialogue, expanding economic and financial cooperation, and consistently promoting and protecting Slovakia's interests throughout the region under his responsibility. Another important objective will be to build and deepen relations with key regional partners and international organisations, including the League of Arab States.
The management of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, together with colleagues from the Aigyptos Foundation, warmly congratulates Ambassador Hudec on his appointment. They wish him good health, every success in his important diplomatic mission, and continued excellence in representing the Slovak Republic abroad.
