World Leaders in Robotics to Gather in Bratislava for the 35th RAAD 2026 Conference
From June 17 to 19, 2026, Bratislava will host the 35th international conference "Robotics in Alpe-Adria-Danube Region" (RAAD 2026). The event takes place under the patronage of the International Federation for the Promotion of Mechanism and Machine Science (IFToMM). Top researchers from both academia and applied research worldwide regularly participate in this event. The conference is an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience in modern robotics and related scientific disciplines. The decision to hold this jubilee edition in Slovakia recognizes our research activities and technological progress in robotics. Its organization will significantly contribute to presenting the results of domestic research and development through prominent publications, showcasing tangible and intangible products, and boosting the country's visibility.
Nearly 60 scientists will present their papers at the conference. Speakers include experts from Japan, China, Canada, Cyprus, and many other EU and non-EU countries. The program features three main plenary lectures. Prof. Eduardo Bayro-Corrochano from the Poznań University of Technology (Poland) will deliver the opening keynote titled Geometric Algebra and Quantum Computing for Robot Modelling and Control. Another plenary lecture will be led by Dr. Hung-Yin Tsai, Director of the National Applied Research Laboratories (NARLabs) in Taiwan, who will present current trends and the research status of robotics in Taiwan. Last but not least, MUDr. Vladimír Baláž, PhD., Head of the Center for Robotic Surgery at the F.D. Roosevelt University Hospital in Banská Bystrica, will share his extensive experience with robotic surgeries and offer valuable ideas for further research in this field.
In addition to technical and scientific sessions, the program includes a special session highlighting major milestones of robotics research in Slovakia. It will span from the legacy of pioneers like Wolfgang Kempelen and Aurel Stodola to historical achievements (e.g., the Perelman machine) and the latest results from the National Centre of Robotics. The conference also offers a special program for students and young scientists, who can attend without presenting a paper to gain valuable experience and new knowledge directly from world-renowned experts.
The conference will take place in the lecture halls of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at STU (SjF STU), Námestie slobody 17, Bratislava.
