The Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAS) welcomed Israeli Ambassador Yacob Yanovsky, who met with SAS President Martin Venhart to discuss opportunities for strengthening scientific and technological cooperation between Slovakia and Israel. The meeting highlighted several areas with strong potential for joint activities, including energy, water management, biomedicine, and artificial intelligence.

According to Ambassador Yanovsky, one of the goals of Israeli diplomacy in Slovakia is to support areas where both countries can benefit from sharing expertise and know-how. In this context, he also presented the 2025 Annual Report on Science in Israel, which identifies key sectors of technological development and the country’s innovation strengths.

President Venhart welcomed the visit as an opportunity to deepen bilateral partnerships further. He noted that the SAS is currently preparing the Slovakia 2040 development vision, in which water management and energy are among the priority areas, both of which are also strategically important for Israel.

The discussion also focused on biomedicine, one of the strong research domains of both countries, as well as on the rapidly expanding field of artificial intelligence. AI is finding increasingly broad applications, particularly in healthcare, where it can support physicians in patient care. Both sides agreed that future cooperation could extend beyond the exchange of experience to include joint research and development projects.

The ambassador also emphasised the importance of long-term partnerships between academic and technological environments. According to him, Slovakia offers a suitable setting for developing and testing innovative solutions, thanks to its qualified workforce and open international environment.
