M-ERA.NET consortium meeting in Bratislava
On January 27–28, 2026, the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAS) hosted a meeting of representatives from organisations participating in the M-ERA.NET consortium (ERA-NET for research and innovation on materials and battery technologies, supporting the European Green Deal).
The M-ERA.NET programme brings together funding organisations, including SAS, to support research in advanced materials. The conference, held at the Devín Hotel, was preceded by a short visit to the Institute of Materials and Machine Mechanics SAS in Bratislava’s Patrónka. This visit also included presentations on two projects funded under M-ERA.NET calls and currently being carried out at the Institute of Electrical Engineering SAS.
Researchers from SAS have been participating in M-ERA.NET calls since 2012; however, this was the first time the SAS welcomed consortium members to Slovakia. A total of 36 representatives of funding organisations from 17 countries attended the meeting in Bratislava, while another 22 participants joined online. The main objective of the event was to evaluate and select project proposals submitted to the M-ERA.NET Call 2025.
“I am very pleased to welcome M-ERA.NET participants to Bratislava for the first time. I would like to highlight the strong interest in visiting our laboratories and express my gratitude to everyone who joined us at the Institute of Materials and Machine Mechanics SAS, especially our Austrian colleagues, for their coordination and cooperation. The two-day event features a rich programme, and I believe it will contribute to strengthening collaboration among European countries in the research, development, and innovation of advanced materials,” said Martin Nosko, member of the SAS Presidium, in his opening remarks.
The meeting programme also included a session of the M-ERA.NET Steering Board, which focused on reviewing the consortium’s activities to date, monitoring ongoing projects, preparing the upcoming M-ERA.NET Call 2026, and cooperating with other European research initiatives with similar objectives.
