SlovakGlobe Beyond the Arctic Circle
Prof. Mgr. Tatiana Kluvánková, PhD., from SlovakGlobe, attended a COEVOLVERS project meeting in February in Utsjoki, northern Finland, discussing contemporary environmental challenges in relation to local culture.
The meeting focused on key practical outcomes of the COEVOLVERS project, with discussions centered on strategically useful results (KER), applicable knowledge, and the development of necessary tools and methods for co-creating nature-based solutions (PBR). "In Utsjoki, we presented the original concept of the reconfiguration process and preliminary results from the application of the Virtual Nature Tool in our Beskydy living lab. Additionally, participants worked on strategy and coordination for preparing academic papers," explained Prof. Mgr. Tatiana Kluvánková, PhD., head of the Department of Strategic Analyses at IFE.
Since the meeting took place in remote Lapland, consortium members had the opportunity to explore the surrounding Arctic nature, its connection to local culture, and the environmental challenges faced by the region. Discussions included problems caused by the spread of non-native salmon species and the complexity of potential solutions.
"In Utsjoki, this issue particularly affects Finnish-Norwegian cross-border communities along the Teno (Tana) river. However, the topic of multi-species justice is one of the current environmental challenges and is therefore a key theme throughout the Coevolvers project," added Kluvánková.
