The Institute of Geography, SAS and the Slovak Academy of Sciences invite all interested parties to public lectures within the COST Action CA23148 – European Network for the Integrative Approach of Urban Forestry (INTUF). The lectures by Francesco Ferrini from the University of Florence, Italy, and Martin Mokroš from University College London, UK, will take place in the Aula of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, Dúbravská cesta 9, on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, from 8:30 AM.

Lecture 1: Future-proof green cities: urban biodiversity, well-being, and climate resilience

Francesco Ferrini (H-index 32) is a professor at the University of Florence in Italy. His scientific work focuses on research and experimental studies in urban greenery, particularly on the impact of linear elements along roads in reducing air pollution and the physiological and growth aspects of various species affected by stress. Since 1990, he has published over 300 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals. In 2010, he received the L.C. Chadwick Award for Arboricultural Research, an international award given to individuals whose research has contributed valuable information to the field of arboriculture.

Lecture 2: From pixels to pointclouds: multi-dimensional remote sensing for urban forestry

Martin Mokroš (H-index 16) is a Slovak scientist currently working at University College London. He is recognized as one of the leading experts in remote sensing and its applications in forestry. His work focuses on the use of multi-dimensional remote sensing for urban green space mapping, incorporating advanced data processing and analysis techniques from various remote sensing sensors.
