GAME CHANGER EDUCATION IMPROVEMENT PROJECT LAUNCHED

Institute for Research in Social Communication SAS launched a new project From Game to Reality: Enhancing Knowledge Transfer in Computer-Based Learning Environments (GAME-CHANGER, 09I03-03-V04-00423), financed by the European Union NextGenerationEU within the framework of the Recovery and Resilience Plan of the Slovak Republic. The project focuses on the development and implementation of educational tasks aimed at solving complex problems within the gaming educational environment.

The project is led by Dr. Kamila Urban and its main goal is to improve the knowledge transfer from the school environment to real life by solving complex problem tasks that reflect current scientific challenges, such as climate change, pollution or the energy crisis.

"The project aims to create tasks that not only develop the ability to remember and understand key information but also support divergent thinking and the student's ability to apply acquired knowledge to solve real problems," explains Dr.  Urban.

Skills such as divergent thinking and effective knowledge use in new situations are essential for addressing the challenges of today's world, such as climate change and technological innovation. The tasks will be designed for students in the second cycle of elementary schools since "the project aims to prepare younger students for complex problems that they will encounter in real life," adds Dr. Urban.

The project plans active cooperation with education experts, as well as with experts from the fields of natural or technical sciences and other interested parties, focusing on making the best possible use of the project results in practice. "This project has the potential to significantly contribute to the development of reading and science literacy and support lifelong learning," concludes Dr. Urban.
