SAS AND THE FRENCH CNRS SIGNED A COOPERATION AGREEMENT ON A TANDEM JOINT EXCELLENT RESEARCH PROGRAM
On June 26, 2024, the Slovak Academy of Sciences and the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) signed a cooperation agreement on the TANDEM joint excellent research program.
TANDEM strives for excellence in the social sciences and humanities by bringing together Slovak and French colleagues to intensify scientific cooperation within the European Research Area. The program is a joint initiative of SAS, CNRS and the French Research Center in Humanities and Social Sciences (CEFRES).
On the morning of Wednesday, June 26, in the Loft Hotel in Bratislava, a working meeting of the directors of SAS organizations from the Department of Social Sciences, Humanities, Arts, and Culture took place with the deputy director of CNRS Humanities & Social Sciences William Berthomièr. The meeting was led by Michal Kšiňan, a member of the Presidium of SAS. Scientific attaché of the French Embassy in Slovakia Yan Pautraut, Vice-President of the SAS for International Relations Zuzana Panczová and Director of CEFRES Mateusz Chmurski were also present. CNRS representative William Berthomière presented the structure and focus of CNRS while the directors presented the cooperation of their organizations with French scientific institutions to date, and in the subsequent discussion, they looked for possibilities of further linking scientific and research activities.
In the afternoon followed a signing of the cooperation agreement on the TANDEM program in the premises of the French Institute in Bratislava, in the presence of the deputy president of the SAS Martin Venhart, the French chargé d'affaires Jacques de Noray and the director of CEFRES M. Chmurske. During the ceremony, the laureates of the first year of this program, Petra Hudeková (Institute of History SAS) and Thomas Chopard (EHESS) presented their joint research project Visual Representation of the Second World War in Museums, Memorials, and Commemorations in Central Europe.
