The paper focuses on the perception of the current state of society by the citizens of Slovakia and its refl ection in their expectations of the development of Slovak society in the next decade. The paper builds on the outcomes of the research conducted by the Institute of Political Sciences SAS in Bratislava in September 2005 whose aim was to map how the future of Slovakia is viewed by its citizens and the implications they have drawn for their own lives.
