About article:
The paper deals with the changes in the structure of 40 most used masculine and feminine forenames (first names) in the period 1981–1990. A comparison with the data for the last 90 years shows that the feminine names (75 % of them being new) underwent a more rapid evolution than the masculine names (27,5 % new names); masculine names contained in the calendar go out of use, the most frequent feminine names are disappearing; there is a tendency to re-Slavonicize and Europeanize Bulgarian names; although both systems of forenames show identical tendencies of evolution, they are not symmetrical; a tendency to consolidate the number of the most frequent forenames (given to 60–80 % of new-borns) is not a guaranty of stability of the repertory of calendar names.
