About article:
The paper is devoted to the research of language imagery which is based on historical, cultural and aesthetic evidences fixed in the Slovak national folk system. The urbonim of the ancient Slovak town of Presov that celebrated in 1997 the 750-th anniversary of its first written mention, and thematic word groups that form its historical and cultural background, are the object of the scholarly analysis. Town’s poetic image is based on the peculiarities of perception of spatial, temporal, social and other factors which are implicitly contained in the urbonim and realised both in its minimum context and the whole text.
