About article:
The study accompanying the publication of the manuscript source brings a linguistic-literary and cultural-historical characteristics of the Rakošino cyrillic manuscript, which was written at the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries as a compilation of several Cyrillic manuscript texts. A substantial part of the manuscript is a translation of the old Czech Lucidarius. Along with Lucidarius‘ translation, the Cyrillic manuscript also contains other edifying, explanatory, didacticizing popular texts, including excerpts from the homily about a conjugal love, an interpretation of the dreams of St. Daniel the Prophet known in Latin medieval literature as Somnia Danielis. Furthermore, the text of the Cyrillic manuscript contains very popular questions with the didactic-reflexive and aphoristically stylized answers. Another interesting text is the Second Letter from Heaven by Jesus Christ on the need to hold Sunday‘s liturgical celebration, the apocrypha of fasting on bread and water on twelve Fridays during the year, and the conclusion of St. Ambrose‘s prayer against the plague, the population under the Carpathians was in danger at the time of creation of this Cyrillic manuscript collection. In addition to the literary-historical and cultural characteristics of the written monument, the study also provides linguistic, especially lexical characteristics of texts dominated by linguistic phenomena of local Carpathian dialects together with various lexical adoptions from the West Slavic language environment, especially Slovak, Czech and Polish. The second part of the study consists of a diplomatic transcript of the entire Cyrillic manuscript monument.
