The work deals with soil forming processes, a position of pedosphere in geographical sphere, functions of soil in life environment, ,with soil destruction and soil devastation as well as with geographical influence of the origin and occurrence of soil-destruction phenomena, an extent, a rate and consequences of some soil-destruction processes in ČSSR. A separate part of the contribution is devoted to the soil .conservation — on an agricultural soil fund as well as a forest one.
