The author is concerned with the current social issues that have become part of our lives and often contribute to the change of the traditional model of cathartic theatre. The study is dedicated to specific topics and their reflection on the theatre production of various theatre groups. The focal point of the research is the adaptation of theme, and the interaction of theatre-makers with audiences throughout the presentation and afterwards. The study presents the complicated matter of dealing with migration employing analyses of the following theatre productions: Americký cisár [The American Emperor], Domov (A kde je ten tvoj?) [Home (And Where is Yours?)] – both premiered in 2018, and the analyses of fear and violence Час восемнадцать [One Hour Eighteen Minutes] (2010), Антитела [Antibodies] (2012, both RF), racial intolerance Kopanec [The Kick], (2018), Natálka (2016, both SR), terrorism Teror [Terror] (2019, SR). Many of these were created utilising the method of documentary theatre drawing from the transcriptions of investigation files or materials from courts.
