About article:
The study deals with the structure of oppositions in recent folk beliefs among the Indians in Mexico. In the study the author follows several oppositions: warm and cold, man and animal, black and white, life and death, older and younger brother, yin and yang. On the basis of these oppositions he considers as the most elementary of all the structure of binary oppositions in which the opposites neither eliminate each other, nor become the one and nor play the antagonistic role. He strongly criticizes the terms generally used in this connection, as dualism or dialectic. He suggests to use the term two-hausing, introduced by M. M. Bachtin. Key words: folk belief, Indians, Mexico
