Očakávané zmeny usporiadania dolinovej siete v povodí Popradu

This contribution presents results of analysis of valley networks of the Poprad. The valley networks considered open morphodynamic systems develop depending on changes of morphostructural and morphoclimatic conditions taking place not only in the territory of the catchment in question, but also in its environs. Valley networks in watershed of the Poprad were subject to big changes from the end of the Paleogene to recent time. Their transformation is also due to creation of new morphostructural plan of the Western Carpathians. If the contemporary morphostructural development taking place in catchment of the Poprad does not essentially change, another transformation of the valley network can be expected. This transformation tends to certain restoration of the pre-Neogene valley networks which were disturbed by individualization of young fault morphostructures in the Miocene. The barrier effect of the dividing ridge in area around Gánovce, Pusté Pole and Frička is being debilitated to such an extent that the Poprad can be captured by the side streams – the Hornád, Torysa, and Topia. The barrier effect of the Tatra, Spišská Magura, Malé Pieniny Mts. and the western part of Beskid Sadecki does not offer any ground for expecting similar changes of valley network between the Slovak parts of catchments of the Dunajec and Poprad. Only a slow migration of the dividing ridge closer to regressively developing catchment of the Poprad takes place here.
