Annotation
The thesis addresses the radon dynamics in underground workplaces (tourist caves and galleries), which are characterized by an increased health risk from exposure to natural ionizing radiation. The results of long-term radon monitoring performed using continuous and integral methods in selected underground places will be analysed. The drivers influencing the variation of radon activity concentration in underground air will be investigated. The derived statistical characteristics of the radon periodic and non-periodic variation will be evaluated against those of the associated environmental (meteorological and microclimatic) parameters, to assess the eventual influence of the latter on radon. A model of annual, daily and short-term variations of radon in selected underground environments will be proposed and tested, as well as model of their ventilation regime.
