Annotation
The PhD student will conduct an analysis and evaluation of written reports and findings from archaeological research. This study will explore the significance of castles within Great Moravian society. Castles were not only military fortifications designed to withstand enemy attacks; they also functioned as tribal centers and later as hubs of princely authority and ecclesiastical administration. To enhance our understanding, it is crucial to integrate these historical insights with archaeological knowledge of the castles' architecture and dating. Furthermore, a comparative study with castles from other Slavic countries may also be undertaken.
