Exploring Ways towards Sustainable Agricultural Intensification Pathways in Europe

There is a general need to increase agricultural production and reduce its environmental burden. This PhD aims to investigate the past and future pathways of agricultural intensification in selected European site. To reach this target, you will integrate social and natural science methods (e.g., pixelising the social & socialising the pixel) to explore the past trends of intensification/abandonment since the beginning of 20th century and translate them into the future scenarios. A successful candidate should be fluent in English and has a passion for land-use modelling and exploring the causalities of processes shaping the landscape. This PhD position offers a great way of joining international research projects.
