The Presidium of the SAS awarded the work of young scientists

On Thursday, October 15, the Presidium of the SAS presented awards for young scientists. Under strict anti-epidemic measures, diplomas to scientists of the 2nd and 3rd Departments of Sciences were handed over by the President of the SAS Prof. Pavol Šajgalík in the presence of a member of the Presidium of the SAS Prof. Ľubica Lacinová and Vice President of the SAS for the 3rd Scientific Department RNDr. Miroslav Morovics.

RNDr. Lenka Lorencová, PhD., from the Institute of Chemistry SAS, won the 1st prize for the 2nd Department of Sciences of the SAS from among ten involved young scientists  for her work Use of a New Promising 2D Nanomaterial "MXén" in the Preparation of Sensors.

Mgr. Branislav Kura, PhD., from the Centre of Experimental Medicine SAS - Institute for Heart Research, won the 2nd prize for the project New Possibilities of Myocardial Protection in Situations of Increased Free Radical Generation. The Role of MicroRNAs.                                                               

Ing. Silvia Schmidtová, PhD., from the Biomedical Research Center SAS - Cancer Research Institute, Chemoresistance of Testicular Tumours - Can We Overcome It? was rewarded with a third place within the 2nd Department of Sciences.                                                                                                         

Mgr. Mária Šibíková, PhD.,  from the Plant Science and Biodiversity Center SAS - Institute of Botany - received an honourable mention for the work The Influence of Non-native Forests on the Environment We Live In.                                                                   

Mgr. Mária Širaňová, PhD., from the Institute of Economic Research SAS, won the 1st prize for the 3rd Department of Sciences of the SAS for the work Macroeconomic Imbalances Procedure and the Problem of Capital Flight.                                                                                     

The second prize went to Mgr.  Michal Holeščák, PhD., from the Institute of Archaeology SAS, for research Late Nomads in the Territory of Slovakia.

Mgr. Jakub Šrol, PhD., from the Centre of Social and Psychological Sciences SAS - Institute of Experimental Psychology won the 3rd prize for Individual Differences in Subjecting to Cognitive Abnormalities.                                                                                                                                       

Mgr.Martin Navrátil, PhD., from the Institute of Slovak Literature SAS,  received one of the two honourable mentions for his work Variants of Vojtech Mihálik´s Early Poems.

The diplomas for the winners of the competition from institutes in Košice were handed over by the first Vice President of the SAS Prof. Peter Samuely.
