Štúdia Tri otázky socialistickému realizmu je analytickou sondou do problému, ktorému sa súčasné reflexie dejín slovenskej literatúry vyhýbajú. Vychádza z presvedčenia, že deklaratívne vyhlásenia o potrebe tematizácie sveta „metódou socialistického realizmu“ a pokusy o autoritatívne vnucovanie tejto tézy u nás po r. 1948 ovplyvňovali literárny život a podobu umeleckej literatúry na Slovensku príliš dlhý čas na to, aby literárna historiografia a literárna teória mohli tento problém obchádzať. Základom prítomnej štúdie je presvedčenie, že pre to, aby sme mohli odpovedať na otázku čo bolo podstatou tézy o socialisticko-realistickom zobrazovaní sveta, je potrebné odkryť invariantné vlastnosti rozmanitých podôb tohto javu. Analýza ukázala, že kultúra, ktorá sama seba označila za socialistickú sa prezentuje snahou o „rekonštituovanie“ sociálnej identity človeka, s dôrazom na autoritatívnu a mocensky garantovanú zmenu kultúrnej pamäti. Namiesto „plurality právd“ vstupuje do vedomia ľudí jednorozmerná predstava o vývine society od „zlého včerajška, k šťastnému dnešku“. Centrálnou ideou takto konštruovanej kultúry je potom historicko-materialistická koncepcia dejín. Tá potom ovplyvňuje aj podobu literárneho zobrazovania sveta a je v ostrom kontraste s tradíciami klasického realizmu, domáceho i svetového.
The study is to be an analytical probe into a problem rather passed in current reflections of history of Slovak literature. It comes from an opinion that declarative statements about necessity of thematisation of the world using a „method of socialist realism“ and attempts to persuade with full authority this thesis influenced in our country after. 1948 the entire literary life as well as character of artistic literature in Slovakia for too long time, which is a good reason to pass the problem in literary theory as well as the history of literature. The study is based on consciousness, that it is necessary to reveal invariant characteristic features of this phenomenon to answer a question what was essential in the thesis about socialist realism. Our analysis showed, culture self- identified as socialist one present an enforce to „reconstitute“ social identity of a person sressing an authoritative and by power guaranted change of the cultural memory. Instead of „pluralism of truths“ there was just oneness in imagination about development of society from an evil past to happy present time. The central idea of that such constructed culture is about historically – materialistic conception of history, which influences also character of literary figurativeness of the world which is in the sharp contrast with traditions of classical realism – domestic as well as international.
