The Institute was established by making independent from the Pharmacological Institute of Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences in 1969. Main interest of the Institute is focused on the study of chronic diseases with emphasis on pro-inflammatory processes with aim to develop new medical principles. Pharmacodynamic, pharmacokinetic as well as toxicological mechanisms of action of biologically active substances with anti-inflammatory and anti-radical properties are investigated at body, organ, cellular, membrane, receptor, and molecular levels. The Institute cooperates with pharmacological laboratories from USA, Japanese, Turkey, England, Italy, Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary and Croatia.
