INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS
The journal Neoplasma publishes articles on experimental and clinical oncology and cancer epidemiology. Only original articles are accepted which have not been published elsewhere. Minireviews, book reviews, reports on scientific meetings and announcements are also published. “Case report” articles are not published.
Preparation of manuscript for online submission:
The manuscript should be submitted online at exonneop@savba.sk, or exonujh@savba.sk . The manuscript should be organized in the following order:
Title page should include the title of article, author’s names (initials of the first and middle names), without academic degrees, the name of the institutions, address and zip code and e-mail address for the first or corresponding author. Indicate the author responsible for the correspondence. Give a running title, not exceeding 60 keystrokes.
The non-structured Abstract should describe in short the main problem, methods, results and discussion. At the end of the Abstract , provide a maximum of 6 key words suitable for indexing.
Text of the article should be subdivided into Introduction, Materials and methods [Patients and methods for clinical articles], Results, Discussion, Acknowledgements and References.
Abbreviations in brackets will be proceeded by the full term when first used [except of those which are very common]. If there are numerous abbreviations, the explanations shall appear as footnotes at the bottom of first page. Authors will only use internationally accepted nomenclature [chemical compounds, enzymes, measures in SI units].
References should be numbered consecutively in the order in which they are first mentioned in the text. For citation in the text the numbers of the appropriate references should be referred in brackets.
The bibliography must give the names of the first 5 authors [with initials only, followed by “et al.”], title of article, name of journal, year, volume number, first and last page numbers [quotations using international abbreviations].
For book references, give name[s] of author[s], title of article, editors of book, title of book, city, publisher, year and pages.
Any references to unpublished work [unpublished data, personal communication, etc.] should be made in the text only.

Tables with descriptive titles must be typed on separate sheets and numbered in consecutive order as cited in the text. Other data or legends shall be given as footnotes below the tables.
Illustrations may be submitted in the form of photographs, graphs and diagrams. Photographs and graphs should be of 9x12 cm size and, if necessary, have the top indicated by arrow. Footnotes and legends pertaining to illustrations will be typed on a separate page. Photographs and graphs are published in black-and-white [gray colored background in graphs should be omitted]. The journal will publish also color photographs, but the author will be charged for the cost of color separation and printing. The publisher will provide the author with the precise cost estimate when the figures are received.
The manuscript should be submitted in English. The editor holds the right to determine the suitability of translations and make linguistic corrections, if necessary. Greater linguistic changes will be made with the author’s approval. The manuscript so approved is considered final, and no further changes [except in the galley proof] will be accepted.
The text should be in WORD, and figures may be submitted in the following formats: TIFF, GIF, EPS, JPG, or WORD.
