SAS among Agrokomplex prize-winners

Sunday 20 August saw the conclusion of the 44th Agrokomplex International Agricultural and Food Exhibition. There were 605 exhibitors from twelve countries present, including eight institutes of the Slovak Academy of Sciences.
Expositions of SAS institutes were visited by many honorary guests including the Slovak Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Gabriela Matečná who was accompanied by SAS Vice-President for Budget and Legislation Prof. MVDr. Juraj Koppel, DrSc. and scientific secretary of SAV PhDr. Dušan Gálik, CSc. Each of the SAS workplaces presented the work and results of its research in the context of focusing the exhibition on biodiversity, ecosystems, nature conservation and agriculture.
The Institute of Landscape Ecology, Polymer Institute, Institute of Chemistry, Institute of Forest Ecology, Institute of Animal Physiology, Institute of Genetics and Plant Biotechnology from the Centre of Plant Biology and Biodiversity, as well as the Archaeological Institute and Arboretum Mlyňany offered visitors a clear presentation of their activities and results. The Department of Landscape Ecology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences presented the publication "Historical Structures of the Agricultural Landscape of Slovakia (Historické štruktúry poľnohospodárskej krajiny Slovenska )", for which it received the Zlatý kosák (golden sickle) Award.
This year's Agrokomplex set itself apart from previous years by an unprecedented number of professional discussion as well as a programme geared toward the whole family.
