SAS Assembly elects two additional members to the SAS Presidium for 2017 – 2021

On Tuesday 14 March 2017, following two sittings at the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Patrónka Bratislava, members of the SAS Council voted members of the SAS Presidium for the 2017 to 2021 term. Two candidates were chosen (one for the scientific section 1, the other for section 3). The sum of 12 selected candidates in the first round of elections has not yet fulfilled the full 15 members of the future SAS Presidium.
This means that the SAS Assembly announced a third round of elections to the SAS Presidium (second runoff) for 4 April 2017 at which a candidate for scientific section 3 is to be voted.
Under the leadership of the President of the SAS Assembly RNDr. Katarína Gmucová, CSc., the SAS Assembly elected two candidates for the upcoming SAS Presidium: Mgr. JUDr. Martina Lubyová, PhD., and Mgr. Martina Venharta, PhD.
The electoral process will continue to the third round (second runoff) and the internal process shall continue for the time being. The third round of elections will take place on 4 April 2017. The SAS Assembly will elect the SAS President with selected members of the SAS Presidium. Under SAS legislation (133/2002 Coll.) the SAS Assembly shall the submit a proposal to appoint the President of SAS to the Slovak Minister of Education, Science, Research and Sport, who will submit the proposal to the Slovak President. Under Article 102, the President of SAS is appointed by the Slovak President.
The following candidates have been voted in the first round to the SAS Presidium for 2017 – 2021: PhDr. Dušan Gálik, CSc., prof. MVDr. Juraj Koppel, DrSc., RNDr. Aleš Kučera, CSc., doc. RNDr. Ľubica Lacinová, DrSc., prof. RNDr. Karol Marhold, CSc., Mgr. Juraj Marušiak, PhD., RNDr. Miroslav Morovics, CSc., Ing. Mária Omastová, DrSc., prof. RNDr. Peter Samuely, DrSc., RNDr. Pavol Siman, PhD., Dr. Ing. František Simančík, prof. RNDr. Pavol Šajgalík, DrSc.
