Scientific awards to personalities of science and technology crossed the borders of Slovakia last week. SAS President Pavol Šajgalik presented an honorary doctorate to Dr. Mrityunjay Singh, distinguished scientist in the field of materials research. He works as Chief Scientist at Ohio Aerospace Institute and as principal investigator at the Glenn Research Center and brings his experience to the institutions of the Academy. Going forward he will advise in the preparation of projects in the field of materials research.
"Dr. Singh is a significant scientist who has great experience in the transfer of knowledge into practice. HIs work in his own research team alone has yielded several patents that have enriched the portfolio of materials used in aerospace, space exploration, and energy systems. This experience is invaluable, and therefore our long-term cooperation has led to the honorary doctorate, " says Pavol Šajgalík.
Doctor Singh views Slovakia as a country with great potential. He has met with numerous scientists and values their expertise and friendly approach to their work.
"From my point of view a great challenge for Slovakia is how the young generation of scientists will replace the old one. You have a number of researchers who are still working and are active even later in life. It is important that fresh graduates, young PhD students and professors, following the example of the older generation also work in the interest of society, not just as individuals. It is for this reason that without countries, institutions and research teams, it is not possible to carry out scientific work. Mutual cooperation is the only way that everyone ultimately benefits," says Dr Mrityunjay Singh.
