A robot led by the Minister of Education, Science, Research and Sport for the Slovak Republic, prof. Peter Plavčan, cut the Monday morning ribbon at the official opening of the thirteenth Slovak Science and Technology Week.
This event has a successful tradition and according to the Minister is one of the most important events in the education sector. "Science is the basis of education, the basis of social prosperity. It brings innovation to industry and also contributes to economic growth. It is important to make children, young people and not only professionals, but also to the general public aware of the findings of science. "
Until Sunday, November 13, prepared lectures, competitions, festivals, workshops and other events are planned for those interested, with the goal of popularizing science and scientific research to the widest possible public with special focus on the young generation. As noted by SAS President Prof. Pavol Šajgalík, all events in this regard are very helpful. "Our task is to jointly create a benevolent environment for young talented scientists to prevent them seeking better conditions abroad, to ensure their careers develop and society perceives and appreciates not just leading artists and athletes but also the intellect of our scientists ... "
As part of the opening of the Science and Technology Week at the Aurelium scientific centre in Bratislava, several calls for greater support for young and novice scientists were voiced. A variety of events has been organised for the public throughout the week and most of the SAS institutes are staging open days as well as lectures and popularisation events. More information on these events can be found at http://www.tyzdenvedy.sk/information-in-english.html?page_id=342.
The main organizer of Science and Technology Week is the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic in cooperation with the Centre for Scientific and Technical Information and the National Centre for Popularization of Science and Technology in Society with the active support of SAS.
